A Question I Recently Received Regarding Weight Loss

unnamed (1).jpg

During one of my nutrition talks to a group of women, I received the following question:

I can't seem to lose those "last 10 pounds," and I don't feel as though I can exercise any more or eat any less. I am very frustrated. I want to fit into my clothes and feel good again!

First of all, I want to say that everyone deserves to feel good and confident physically, mentally, and emotionally. I believe that is our right as a human being. It is why I am a health coach. I also know that the archaic way of thinking about weight loss (calories in, calories out) persists because I still hear about people pursuing their goals in this way. I wish more than anything someone had told me this years earlier, so I am going to reiterate it here:

Your body doesn't count calories, and neither should you.

When you can understand the objective science behind hunger and metabolism, it empowers you to make more informed decisions. It also frees you from that "move more, eat less" mentality, that quite frankly, makes a lot of people miserable. Learning this nutritional science changed my life, and when I learn something that benefits me, it is in my innate nature to share it.
